Saying Goodbye to Fansided

First let me say, it’s been one hell of a ride since March of 2013 when I was offered to be the sports editor for the Memphis Tigers. I have definitely enjoyed writing article after another for the sports fanatics to read. I am bless to have special people in my life that pushed me to be as good of a writer as anyone else.

My time here at Fansided has officially come to an end as I am now the sports editor for The Ledger Independent in Maysville, KY. I just graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. So, my next step was to find a paying job. But if wasn’t for Michael Castillo and others , I wouldn’t be able to compete in the journalism job market. It’s really hard to let this website go when I have been the only one covering the sport I love the most (basketball).

From day one, I was kind of nervous when I landed on Fansided because I was used to being a independent sports reporter, but Fansided changed my life as a whole. I was able to meet other writers and plus, people read my articles. It made me feel special and there’s nothing else I could ask for from a fan. I will not forget how Fansided helped me to move to the next step of my career. I will not forget some of the conversations I had with the crazy fans on this site. Honestly, I loved the crazy fans, because of their passion for the sport.

I hope the next person that comes onto the site does well in providing solid content for the readers and provide them with the most important information concerning a certain team, player, or head coach. If people want to talk to me about Kentucky Wildcats Basketball or any other sport that I will be covering, then my twitter name is koolaidkid1990.

Once again, thanks to all who helped me move up the ladder in the sports world.

Take care,

Courtney A. Smith
